Task calls her sound “flannel pop.” She grew up consuming the addictive melodies and rock-pop elements of late ‘90s and early 2000s artists Alanis Morissette, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, and Avril Lavigne. As a teenager, Task followed Tumblr-era indie pop artists Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Bleachers, as well as pop punk bands A Day to Remember, Linkin Park, and Yellowcard. Listeners have likened Task’s songwriting to Paramore, Regina Spektor, Lisa Loeb, Halsey, and Kelsea Ballerini.
In June 2021, Task was voted Fan Favorite in Open Mic Fridays, an online event hosted by the LA-based non-profit, Music Forward Foundation. The songwriter released her debut single, “Quitter” in September 2022. In 2023, Task was selected as a featured artist in The Unheard showcase by Music Columbus, later opening at one of their Music Mondays events, a monthly professional development and networking seminar put on for local artists.
Task now lives in Brooklyn, NY where she’s further defining her flannel pop sound. Catch her out busking in Central Park or playing a live show in your neighborhood.
